TEEN MENTORSHIP
Calling all positive, creative, and enthusiastic young leaders! Do you love being in nature? Do you love children? Are you passionate about making an impact in your community? Consider volunteering 2 weeks during the 2024 Wilderness Awakening Day Camps. Volunteers assist camp staff to accompany and support a positive and friendly experience at our Day Camps.

Time Commitment:
A three hour training session
2 week commitment
(Monday - Friday : 8:45 am - 2:30 pm) -

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be present, responsible, enthusiastic, encouraging, inspiring and observant
- Assist in planning and guiding games and activities, yet allow the learning to be led by the child
- Awareness of safety guidelines, upholding responsibility for the health and safety of self and others
- Assist in overseeing and supporting the children

Qualifications
Desire to work in an outdoor summer camp environment
Ability to attend the full 2 week segment
Ability to interact and communicate with children and the lead guide effectively
Ability to identify and solve potential problems
Previous volunteer experience in a recreation setting is a plus
First aid certification is preferred (but can also be provided!)
Technology responsibility; staying off screens except when needed

Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this position, you will be required to walk, run, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, talk. There is the potential demand of carrying and moving up to 20 pounds.
Camp takes place exclusively in the great outdoors! We will be outside in changing weather conditions and be possibly be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, while being exposed to dust, pollen, plant life and insects…
